Alice Emeka

Alice is a Medical Laboratory Scientist and Public Health Practitioner currently, working as a Deputy Director Medical Laboratory Services at the Federal Ministry of Health, Headquarters, Abuja. She has over twenty-five (25) years of experience in advising, participate in reviewing and formulating Medical Laboratory policies and integrating such policies into National Laboratory Technical Work Group plans.

In her current designation, she is actively involved in several public health survey in Nigeria, Protocol development for Rapid Test Kits, Evaluation and Post Market Validation on Rapid Test Kits as a Member of National Quality Assurance Team.

As a member of Governing Board of Management of Federal Medical Center (FMC) Owo her managerial skills are used for providing technical support to programmes to ensure compliance with international best practice and decision making.

In her past work as Acting Zonal Coordinator for North-West Zone of the National Blood Transfusion Service, she was responsible for overall coordination of programme activities, including strategic planning, implementation, performance monitoring, risk management, ensuring synergy in identified services required with health professionals and organizing joint health programmes with relevant Non-Governmental Organizations. Also initiate increased quality standards through service evaluation, training and development by delivering new training solutions that meet the needs of the service users.

However, as a Laboratory Manager, she was actively involved on advocacy and Hospitals Networking from Zone to National Blood Transfusion Center, Recruitments and Conversion of Family Replacement Donors to Voluntary Blood Donors, coordination of blood safety data with respect to collection, collating and analyzing data from linked hospitals.

Alice, has participated in several public health research, survey, Training of Trainers and some unpublished thesis/projects in areas of Transfusion transmissible Infections, blood drive and donors’ retention in communities setting.
