Ravnit Grewal
Dr Ravnit Grewal is a Haematology Pathologist registered with the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa as well as the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA). She qualified in 2010 from Stellenbosch University (SU), Cape Town. Thereafter she worked as a consultant for the National Health Laboratory Services (NHLS) at Tygerberg Hospital as a joint appointee for SU as well as the NHLS. In 2013 she decided to gain experience at the Cape Haematology and Bone Marrow Transplant Unit in transplant medicine, at Constantiaberg Mediclinic in 2013, where she spent 12 months as a specialist. In 2014 she returned to the NHLS/SU as a senior academic consultant and worked in that capacity until the end of 2017.
Her primary research interest has been in HIV related lymphomas as it became evident that South Africa was experiencing a surge in HIV associated complex lymphoma pathology. With the advancement in oncology practices and the move towards targeted therapy, she decided to join the South African Bioinformatics Institute (SANBI), Medical Research Council (MRC) at the University of the Western Cape in 2018 as a Principal Investigator/Senior lecturer in order to focus on her research interests.
